The B-I-B-L-E

On Saturday, many, many people gathered from several different churches in Hato Mayor for a Bible March. We marched around the town, singing, dancing, raising our Bibles in the air and encouraging people to read and believe the Word of God!

We met in the park and lined up by church. You can see in the picture below that people are lined up around the corner and beyond. I couldn't get us all in the picture!!

It was like a parade, only instead of promoting a business or activity, we were urging people to read their Bibles.

As we marched, I kept thinking about this song I learned in Albany, MN when I was in Sunday school. Good times!!

The B-I-B-L-E

Yes, that's the book for me!

I stand alone on the word of God

The B-I-B-L-E!

People were also holding signs with Bible verses about God's Word like...

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105)

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of God stands forever" (Isaiah 40:8)

"People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4)

"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us..." (John 1:14)

"For the word of God is alive and active and sharper than any two-edged sword." (Hebrews 4:12)

God's word always produces fruit. It will accomplish all God wants and will prosper wherever He sends it. (Isaiah 55:11)

It was pretty neat. The people on the streets and in their homes had different reactions. Some came out with their Bibles and joined us dancing and singing and raising their Bibles in the air. Others looked confused or curious, wondering what in the world we were doing and wondering how could these Christians be having so much fun singing and dancing and raising their Bibles in the air?! Regardless of what they were thinking, God was there, God was planting seeds and God was moving. I know this because it was all about God and His Word!

Afterwards we gathered in a stadium to continue praying for the city and people of Hato Mayor, to continue praising God together and to hear a message from the Word of God.

The message came from the book of Jeremiah. Jeremiah 1:5-10. These are some of my favorite verses. I will always remember these verses because God used them to speak to me in a very special way several years ago.

The preacher told us that we are all called, like Jeremiah, to be prophets. We are called to share the Word of God with our families, friends, neighbors and anyone we meet. We are all called to tell others about who God is and what Jesus did on the cross. We are called to proclaim the truth: that God loves us and wants a relationship with us, that Jesus died on the cross so we could be free and He is waiting for each of us to walk in that freedom!

The preacher was urging us to share the Truth, to speak out. As the word says, "we do not need to be afraid, for God is with us and will rescue us!"

It was a very powerful and empowering message. He said that our age or level of experience is not important. God invites everyone to be a part of His mission. He gives us exactly what we need when we need it!

I hope you enjoy the pictures and videos! Let's get some discussion going, too.... Post a comment answering this question... What is one of your favorite Bible verses?
